Yoga Class Descriptions
I know many people are wanting to know about yoga and what it is all about. What we need to ask ourselves is how can we use yoga for our health. Yoga practiced with the right intention brings many benefits for all. Stress, anxiety, chronic pain, addiction, depression, flexibility, high blood pressure and balance, to name a view, can all be improved with a regular practice of yoga and meditation.
At The Yoga House we offer a gentle, adaptable approach to classes that will suit beginners to regular practitioners. If you see gentle, beginners or peaceful in our description, you know this is a class that is going to help acclimate you to the yoga practice in a easy and safe way. It is also a great way to reduce stress and anxiety. You may want to start in one of these classes if you are new to yoga, or haven't practiced in a while.
We also offer chair yoga for those that may have trouble with getting up and down from the mat , or have a disability that prevents you from being on the floor.
We have classes with Breath awareness, Meditation and Discussion. These are suitable for everyone and highly recommended. You will learn about the health benefits of both our breath and our meditation sits.
You may see The Steps and Yoga Recovery class on the schedule. The 12 Steps deals with addictions. Anything can fall under the umbrella of addiction. Addiction is continuing to do something, knowing that it is time to stop. Examples are shopping, gambling, eating, drugs, alcohol and people. These classes are donation based and open to everyone. We discuss the The 12 Steps and introduce yoga into our lives to help in our recovery process.
You will see on occasion a Yoga Group Therapy session that lasts 4 weeks. This is a series separate from the class memberships and cards. Sign up is recommended as these classes are closed out with a maximum of 8 people. This is a class where we work on our individual practice based upon our own needs. This is a great way to get to know your body/mind/spirit on a personal level. At the end of the sessions you will have your own practice to take home. This yoga practice can be 10 minutes or an hour, depending on the amount of time you have to devote to the practice.
